Belize Fishing

Belize's fisheries are exploited for two different purposes, one of them is the commercial and the other one is for subsistence. The last one purpose is the most heavily exploited natural resources. Fisheries are promoting an expansion in production through diversification of this resource base, in an effort to maximize the benefits obtained from the fishing industry, while ensuring its long-term viability. At this time Belize's fishing industry is small and growing but it is an industry with great potential for development. Right now Belize export some of these products: Finfish, Dry Sea Farine, Conch, Lobster, Shark, Smoked Fish, Shrimp, Stone Crab Claws and Aquarium Fish.

Fishing

Whether you just want to have a little fun or you are an avid fly or sports fisherman, the right tour guide can be found on the island. Catch your supper with a part-time tour guide/fisherman or inquire at your hotel for the highly skilled fly-fishing guides who closely guard their "secret" fishing grounds. Interested in big game fish? – Several touristic places offer deep sea fishing and the country has several tournaments annually. Guided half and full day trips can be arranged. Some include a picnic on the north end of the island where the fish you catch is cooked for your lunch. Remember, come and fish at the Sunbreeze Hotel.
